Open House London #1

Back in September, Charlotte and I went on a weekend trip to enjoy Open House London.

“Open House London celebrates all that is best about the capital’s buildings, places and neighbourhoods. Every September, it gives a unique opportunity to get out and under the skin of London’s amazing architecture, with over 700 buildings of all kinds opening their doors to everyone – all for free.”

Naturally, we squeezed in a bit of shopping as well! Here’s the first chapter documenting the fun we had in Notting Hill.

Thanks so much to Charlotte for being great company and providing the wonderful photographs.

Look out for the next Open House London #2 post for the serious stuff!

Snow Much Fun

The snowy weather we’ve had recently is beautiful, fun to play in… and the perfect excuse to stay in and catch up on some craft projects.

I recently came across a stall selling dainty teacup candle holders. They were so cute they inspired me to make my own!

Home-made cup and jar candles

Home-made cup and jar candles

I made these using thrifted teacups and saucers, a saved jar (of our house’s favourite jam), a candle making kit brought from eBay and old bits of candle from around the home.

Rhiannon and I enjoyed our winter garden by lighting these newly made beauties in the snow….special thanks to Rhiannon for taking these gorgeous pictures – it was so much fun!

Layne Style #1: Bedroom Tour

Friends often describe me as a squirrel or a magpie as I can’t help myself when it comes to collecting things that I find beautiful. Another trait is the desire to have all these beautiful things on display, otherwise I forget I have them. Because of this, I have had to adapt my storage style to survive and below are some examples……..

I thought I’d share the styles of Bath in a weekly post, called ‘What Are You Wearing?’, which will include interviews with the models.. giving you an insight into their favourite books/blogs/music/etc. Enjoy!

Vision Communiqué 2013

I was going to write a list of New Year resolutions to follow, some new ideas that I really want to try and some rolled over from last year (as always), when I saw Dr Wayne Dyer‘s Facebook post on a friend’s page.

All I need for 2013 is a positive mental attitude and the confidence to allow it:

“Wishing you all a Happy New Year! This is the time of year that many of us make resolutions, or rather, reinforce the notion of living in the future, when really, the important question to be asking yourself is “How am I going to use my present moments this year?” It is simply a matter of asking yourself at the beginning of the day, “How do I want to conduct my life today?” When you get good at living your present moments one day at a time, you’ll see yourself changing right before your own surprised eyes. Remember, anyone can do anything for just one day, so tune out the sentences that keep you locked into your old self-defeating ways and begin to enjoy each day of your bright new year.”

So far 25,429 people like this and I think the good doctor is on to something!
